    Blue error screen of death

Thought Ide ask on here, i have a IBM Thinkpad T42, quite old but does the job as a home PC ect, I recently picked up a virus (trying to watch footie from a link on here no less), anyhow was the XP Ativirus one. My BullGuard found and deleted, i then had no applications ect but sorted that, but now Internet explorer runs slow, and comes up with the blue error screen and shuts down, I mainly found it happening when trying to download itunes recently and in the end gave up. I saved all my pictures and music files to a hard drive and then pretty much cleaned this one off. Was gonna invest in a new machine, but thought Ide ask for any advice before doing so, as really it would be a shame not to be able to fix this PC.

    Thanks in advance

First things first, take a look at what system restore points you have available. This might save you the trouble of having to put a fresh build on the machine.

Make sure you backup and have the essential drivers on a USB pen drive before wiping the disk.
