        microsoft security essentials
        regular scans with malwarebytes

best thing is use common sense. don't trust sites and links you don't know and if you are using hacked software then test it out in sandpit environment e.g. in a virtual machine.

As i understand it both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials do Virus scanning and you shouldn't need two virus scanners so pick your favorite.
Malwarebytes is good for antispyware and has a good reputation.
If your Anti virus program says your computer is clean but you don't think it is it could be because some viruses hide form the antispyware program when you boot into the operating system. So what you need to do is scan your system without booting into windows. You can download a Live Antivirus Cd from AVG here which boots straight to the CD and allows you to scan your system without windows running.

                            Hi

You need to burn to cd and then boot from that cd. Usually your pc should allready be configuered to boot from cd if not you have to change in bios.

Alternatively take avg off and keep security essentials, install malwarebytes as suggested and also spybot, boot into safemode and run malwarebytes, spybot and then security essentials.
