    selecting booting partition

    Hi All
When booting up I get this request to select from where I want
boot up from. Being told that this was because the hd had two active partitions I ran partitionmagic to investigate . Only one partition.
The request gives me a choice and if I dont select either one it
defaults to the first choice it offered and in this case the wrong one .
The strange thing is , both choices are labled the same and only one selection will result in a successfull bootup.

    For example display will be

    Please select one
    1 MICROSOFT XP PRO
    2 MICROSOFT XP PRO
Do I have two partitions ? how do I get rid of it without corrupting the working partition ?
It is really annoying as the computor cant boot up on its own and if I am not fast enough to select , the whole process has to be restarted. Please help
    regards

    Right-Click on My Computer
    Select properties
    Go to Advanced Tab
Under Startup and Recovery, press the Settings button
Select the default OS from the Default operating system dropdown box.
    Click OK

    edit the way it starts
