I wouldn't really call Vista an upgrade, if you want Vista you'll have to buy a copy, unless someone knows different

        xp to vista

The best is to forget about xp and install vista a lot of programmes that you have installed will only be compatiable with xp so go for it although I must admit I use the original windows media centre as my hobby is music and have 1TB external storage of music which for editing and putting on to mp3 etc XP version is the best #

Vista takes up more ram space and if you are running an old laptop they usually only have max 2GB you upgrade to 4 GB and a small cost of aroung ?60 if you shop around If you are using a tower computer no problem

there is a download to check your pc compatabilty with vista in case you need to upgrade ram, graphics ect. this should be available from the microsoft web site. if you buy upgrade disc this will come with a new key.

Hey up now guys upgrade you will have to delete your old xp files as it will take up hdd space and can cause issues.if you wipe your drive then a fresh install its better for you remember to use third party drivers for you hdd if needed as sometime vista aloows a complete install but ****s up on a restart as windows hdd drivers sometimes dont quite cut the cake and your manufacturers of the mobo drivers only for sata are needed
you dont need a serial to in stall vista leave it blank choose which ever version i use both x86 x64 versions and get full downloads of updates sp s no problems
there are two types of hacks ones a oem bios hack thats the hack that ms update cannot undo then theres the timer stop hack that the ms update reverses the bios hack is detected though but ran angain gives you a ligitimate copy leave xp on as windows 7 beta im on at the moment and its the best ive seen ms give us wait our

              Hi Daaceizbak

what is your system spec? Total Ram? CPU ? Motherboard? or if made by a company such as HP,Compaq,Dell etc what the Make & Model of your system?
Also.. do you use any legacy devices, printers? Creative Soundblaster Live? etc as compatibility for some devices are a pain in the Rear & you could find that you will not be able to use those devices or other devices that u are using with windows XP, unless there is a Vista Driver for it made by that manufacturer.

Good luck with what you decide, i personally Prefere XP over Vista, (tried Vista on both my laptop & Home gaming PC and it run like a snail compared to XP).

              Regards

              Street
