i have a 6mth old acer5741z laptop battery only charging to 80% but saying its still charging but stuck at 80% cheers

Check the power settings in your notification area.
As a way of prolonging the life of the battery windows can be set to charge to only 80%.
If you change this to full charge it will go to 100%Canker
