    HDD Problem

Hello. I have problem with Sony VIAO laptop. Looks like the HDD is maybe dead. But I am confused?

When I use Hirens boot CD it can see HDD, I can format, make partitions, no bad sectors, full scan etc, but when I insert Windows installation disk it says that setup can`t find HDD.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    What version of windows?

You might have to insert the sata driveres into the instal disc

yeah that's true...after you do it, so next you can make xp within ahci driver. because I think it's more good than ide in data transfer....to add ahci you can see older post

i would not delete/reformat just yet

(unless you really want windows xp on the laptop but read the stuff
below first also if you are installing sata You Press F6 For Third Party
                Drivers)

i would check a few things on the laptop first

if all the software stuff on the hard
has been checked bad errors etc
then lets move on but can never rule
                out with os's .

enter the bio's or check the setup to see if the HDD is
connected. Also check the setting the bios settings for the hard drive.

if not it maybe physical damage to the HDD or maybe the wiring connected
to the HDD wont know unless it checked.

if your going to try to restore i would recommend using the laptop method of
restoring because if you use an installation disk and just reformat without knowing
the partitions sizes and directories there is a risk of there a being a backup partition
and possibly any other valuable data on your main partition there which would be
                deleted when you reformat.

the laptops use either a disc or seperate partition (sometimes have both optiions
                to install the operating systems.

It was the SATA drivers as Cunny said. Thank you all.

Other solution is to set hard drive as Ide mode in bios setup. And after install Ahci drivers for WinXP.
                    Then change to SATA mode.

                    Best regards
