Internet on & off. IP Address has changed!

Hello, remember me? Guess what.... I'm only having a bit of a niggle with my internet aren't I.

I keep getting signed out of MSN and, when I can get on the internet, it is either verrrrryyyy slow or I cannot navigate away from whichever page I'm on/
It's on, it's off, it's very annoying and makes the perusal of ~~~~ very difficult

Also, I have noticed that my IP address has changed!
    What's all that about then?
I was on 82.xxx.xxx.xxx something or other and now it's 62.253.xxx.xxx or something.

Of course, I telephonicalised Vermin Media and told the tale of my woe.
The lovely 'Michelle' from Bangladesh by the sounds of it, informed me that there are problems in my area that will be ongoing until the 18th of this month and during that time, I will continue to have these problems.
I said 'now looky here, little lady.... that's not the kind of beat that I can boogie to'
After explaining the gist of what I was getting at, she offered to credit my account with a total of ?4 for my troubles.
    "Really?" says I.
After a few words, this offer was increased to ?10.
Woohoo but I am still not happy.
Even though I am off on my travels again tomorrow and will be gone for the duration of the 'problems', this is still highly annoying as I need my blessed internet until I go.

Answer me this boggle...... Why would my IP address change?
Is it a sign of a problem with my modem? (which I can well imagine since I am currently on my fifth replacement modem in just short of 3 years).

Answer me do, answer me true and I will offer an empty promise of biscuits for your time and effort.

Your external IP can change for various reasons including -

Your local router/pc MAC has changed

Your normal UBR is offline - either kaput or for maintenance/upgrade

You have been permanently resegmented to a new UBR, possible work to alleviate oversubscription taking place

Possible change of overlay docsis1/docsis3. Maybe your areas is being upgraded.

VM re-allocating the IP address pool

Probably a whole load more reasons. Unfortunately its impossible to get a reason for such things from VM. All they usually say is that its dynamic so can change anytime.
