    HDD problems-HELP

    Hi Folks

I needed to change my laptop HDD, so bought a replacement and checked before installing it. Now my laptop says it can't find my hard disk drivers? What does this mean? I have tried to installed windows O/S from the recovery disk. What am I doing wrong?

its probably a sata drive in which case you have to install third party drivers before you install your o/s, also you are using a recovery disc which will not load a o/s you will need a full installation disc for which ever o/s you want to install.

For how the hard drive connectors look different on a laptop hard drive see here.
For how they are different from a computers point of view they are just a drive but faster. From an Operating systems point of view the SATA drives require different drivers from from the IDE drives an at least as far as XP is concerned the drivers are not included in the XP install disk.
