    which cable

hello people, looking for a smudgen of help here ,my nephews internet is downstairs and his xbox 360 is upstairs,he would like to connect his xbox to the internet,he has a cable running from his modem downstair to upstairs however the cable is the old type like the one used to connect the 512k modem,is there an adaptor that switches from the old 512k modem cable to ethernet or will he have to change the cable running up the stairs altogether.

Yes I think he will have to dont know anyway to convert that cable and even if you could the slowdown would be terrible, if he has a puter in his room on wireless he could turn on network sharing and run a cat 5e from puter to xbox

First of all I take it he has broadband....

      1. If the broadband modem plugs into pc via usb then it is useless for an xbox a router will have to be purchased, in most cases a router is always the option with consoles so you can run the internet on a pc aswell.

      2. if the cable going from modem to pc is ethernet then thats the one that has to be inserted in to xbox.

      3. the cable you are talking about the dsl line cable should be connecting the modem or router to the phoneline.

      4. The only way to solve this is to use an ethernet cable from modem/router to xbox or wifi to xbox from router.
