think windows update has killed my lan driver

my computer recently did a windows update but now ive got on internet connection
ive tryed install the driver again from the disc that didnt work, so i went to nvida download section and download the driver from there, that also didnt work
so i finally went to driver agent and search/ download the driver installed it , no go again
the driver is -NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet on asus desktop pc
to connect the internet i use a wired ethernet cable
ive check the cable and its not broken even tho windows 7 solution centre says it is
    any ideas to sort this
    running out of ideas
my last two options are do a anti virus scan or do a fully system restore
thanks in advance if any one can help

This happended to me also recently. The only way to get internet working again was the Windows system restore. Luckily I had it turned on before update.
Don't forget to thank when someone helps you!

Have you tried deleting the network adapter in device manager?
Then reboot and see if it reinstalls

u need to pop open the case and find on the board a sticker and/or engraving of the board model
proberly inbetween the cpu and ram normally

                    example : MSI K9N6SGM-V

                      take a screenshoot

then go to hardware / network adpators
