pc problem opning screenused to switch on and xp win

used to switch on and up came win xp, now i get a choice of f1 or f2 ( mahine is a dell ) how can i get my original opener back all hint and tips welcome,

ps went into bios and tried default retore--no joy

Sounds like Your boot.ini file (in Windows) needs to be edited back to original wording ... did You install recovery console or something to change it ? Bios restore defaults will primarily only affect which devices to boot from first if they are changed from factory defaults ... get original opener back ? You mean a boot loader ? Are You dual booting ? Need more info to be more helpful

thanks scottech, looked in boot,ini its new to me could not see where to change, tried recovery (went back 6 weeks) and no do not have dual boot, so where to next, any ideas,

some things cant be fixed by going back
espically these kind of issues have to fix inorder to
sort.
