HELP !!! HDD PASSWORD(NOT BIOS PASSWORD) ON DELL VOSTRO 1520

Ok, I've been searching for ANY solution for almost a month now, but unfortunately have had no luck thus far.

I have a Dell Vostro 1520. The service tag is "HD0HQJ1" and the express service code is "37792187533". It's running Phoenix SecureCore(tm) BIOS Setup Utility ver.A02.

I realize that this sounds absolutely absurd, but i went to boot up my laptop about a month ago, & was shocked when a "PLEASE ENTER HDD PASSWORD:___________" message popped up on my screen. I never set up an HDD password, & to the best of my knowledge, i'm the only one who has access to my laptop, so no one else could've set one up. I called Dell Technical Support, and they said the only way to resolve this issue was to purchase and install a new hard drive. Unfortunately, i'm not really in a position to do this, due to the fact that it is actually a company laptop. I DESPERATELY NEED TO FIND SOME WAY TO REMOVE THIS HDD PASSWORD. Like i said, i've been relentlessly searching for a way to do this, but have been completely unsuccessful. If anyone can offer any advice or anything, PLESAE, PLEASE< PLEASE let me know.

Does the screen that prompts for a password also give you the HDD serial number?

Post the HDD serial number. In some cases a password can be generated.
