my pc died and will no power up

Grabbed me a new pc off ebay not long ago. Anyway the PSU blew over xmas week and rather than send the whole thing back i got me new PSU.
Fitted it and everything was pukka, untill last week when the power just shut off.
Now the dam thing won't power up at all?
The strange thing is the keyboard lights flash when I flick the I-O switch on the back, So power is getting to the MOBO.
Gonna buy another PSU tomorrow and hope its dodgey.
anyone else had a simlar problem??

no mate not had a problem like that. however, did have a friend with a similar problem... what i would advise is that you check on the mobo. maybe the connection to the PSU has become slightly loose? also remember there are two connections on mobos.. one is that phat block and one is the 4pin block.. take a look. and by the sounds of things it seems like the person you bought the pc off should be sorting this as it should stil be under warranty....

yes you do . Im not understanding why you are not p*ssed off! If i had bought it off ebay and it started giving me problems, I would not spend a single penny! Get the people to sort it out everything has a 12month warranty!

I couldn't imagine you could blow two psu's on the same pc. My son who put my pc togather once when I was at work blew the motherboard by shorting it cause he didn't put the little legs on the motherboard when he put it in the case. The cpu fan was the only thing that seemed to power up but the screen was totally blank.

you making sure the psu is powerfull enough mate ?? if its just a shitty low powered one then it wont have enough oooomfff, depends on the hardware thats in the machine to be honest, and we dont know if youve added other hardware either, if you have then it requires more power, but if its a decent psu of about say 500watts, and its a standard pc, then that would be way more than enough, but again, you didnt say what you have etc, it would help.

I had a pc that had a 350watt psu, it blew, it couldnt handle the load, then i fitted a 550watt psu and it worked fine. (the more watts the better)

                Hi,
not sure of your system spec, how old your pc is? new/2nd hand from ebay.. either way.. i would be looking at two things...

1). If your system was customer built, check the motherboard is seated correctly inside the case ensuring there is clearance between the motherboard and the case to ensure the board is not being shorted out by the components on the base of the motherboard. as previously mentioned in one of the posts above.

2). Through personal expirence dont under estimate your PSU. although it powers on your system. it has been known that the power supplys can be faulty even if its new! there simply isnt enough power being produced from the PSU even if its a 700W PSU brand new out the box, it can be faulty! even if your system can run on a 350W PSU. it took me a few hours and another power supply to work this one out for my self when i had a similar problem. im not sayin that is the problem but i wouldnt dismiss the possiblity.

3). bad Ram will stop the PC from booting up & shut the system off! or in most cases provide a Beeping error code. its another possiblilty.

failing that.. if your baught the PC new from ebay and it came with a warranty i would contact the seller and tell them your having issues with the PC. make sure that if it needs to go back that they cover postage & the cost of the PSU you have already baught to try & fix the problem. they might be reasonable about it & sort alittle extra out maybe? but worth a shot.

                Good luck!

                Street.

                      Thanks for all your replies,
I Finally found the time and tested the power supply today and It's skrewed. Did a stuipd thing again and went to maplins and grabbed another PSU same as the one before SLi sata, basically the right one.
tried it PC won't boot, poers up but no single bleep no bleeps at all for that matter otherwise i would be looking up error codes.
Stripped it down done everything you could think of, propper done my head in today
Anyway doing what i should have done in the first place and letting them sort it.
                      thx again peeps & regards
                      bert
