Some of you will read this and will want to hop on a plane or boat and hit me a slap.

Any i don't know how it happened but i seem to have deleted the program ( or maybe part of it) that is for my DVD BURNER i my laptop is a SAMSUNG r60plus and i have WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE installed. The last time i tried to use it to use it i got a message "no burner detected" Can any of you tell me if its possible to reinstall it without having reinstall everything on my laptop. If its possible i'd like an idiots guide. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLIES.

What software are you using to burn with ? If it's saying burner and not CDrom it could be a problem with the software not the lappy.

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

The disk isn't a genuine disc but it is the real macoy, if that makes sense. It takes up dates and behaves like a genuine software. I'd be a bit anxious about doin this in case i arsed it up. Can you tell me the process for doin it? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

            You could try this.

Turn lappy over and remove small screw at dvd, it will be about 4 " down from edge of lappy in the middle of dvd, this will allow you to pull the dvd burner out (best to open the dvd so you can pull it out).

Reboot lappy and then push the dvd burner back in, the lappy should then detect it and install what it needs....this will only install what it needs to use the dvd...it wont help if it is a software problem.

Go to "Start" "Computer" and tell me if you can see the CD DVD drive is showing amongst the rest.
you should see it like this ( DVD WR "J:" or D,H,M.) this can be any letter.

Download imgburn and see if its detected. I cant see how removing a program would drop the burner.

Is it still in device manager?

Here is the solution and it will work for anyone has the same problem:

Follow this instruction step by step

                        1) Start "Enter"
                        2) Run Commend type: regedit and click Enter
                        3) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
                        4) System
                        5) CURRENT CONTROL SET
                        6) CONTROL
                        7) CLASS
                        8) Find this line {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and Click on it
                        9) few folders will appear on the right. find between them the following lines:
                        upper filter and delete it
                        lower filter and delete it
A confirmation for deletion will appear in a small window just click OK and reboot your computer or laptop.
check your CD /DVD if is working then this is great if not repeat the above steps check if (any of the upper filter or lower Filter back) or both of them back make sure to delete them again usually one of them back sometimes.
I hope this will solve your problem.
Any filters deleted from your system will not affect your computer in any shape or form and you will loose nothing in your system as this commend is only for CD/DVD drives

What about going through Control panel, System, device manager and trying the roll back or update driver stuff.

Although, I suppose the easiest thing to do first is to put in a disk like a DVD movie and see if it plays, if not then something is defo wrong.

Also if its not in windows as a device(like the other guys are saying) then try the bios to see if it appears in there. If not then its a hardware thing.

Just to let you know that windows 7 is very bad in missing about the Drives and drivers, in fact people own genuine win7 and yet if something went wrong the windows 7 display this window is not genuine check it out M8 and you will see for your self. try any thing you like to get your burner back but if you are not familiar with win7 OS then you will end-up in a worse situation unless if you re-install everything from scratch.
