    invalid format problem

hi all, i am having a problem when plugging my vga cable into my tv with the correct resolution set it stll keeps blank screening me and telling me its an invalid format. it used to work fine all i had to do was lower my screen resolution on my pc to match that of my tv ( a cheapo 42" technika plasma from tesco ). if i plug it into the tv and then boot the pc it loads to the welcome screen then does the same thing. really frustrating coz i am trying to watch the darts on sky player and my pc has no speakers....and its not 42". any help appreciated its the final tomorrow. thanks

You still need an audio cable to tv. Anyway just drop the reselution on the pc. Then try. Start from the lowest upwards till you get it right.

have the audio cable also i have both a 3m vga and a 3m audio cable to ensure they reach. my tv resolution for pc is 1024x768 so it tells me when i switch it to pc and the fact that it used to work perfectly not so long ago confuses me.

also the real annoying thing is that when i try it in my tv and it does not work when i plug it back into my monitor that also displays no signal so i have to reboot my pc grrr.
downloaded and installed ultramon too but i am not too sure how it works. it had no effect on my last try anyhow

Just drop the resolution on the pc monitor before trying on the tv again.

Also try changing the screen refresh rate to a lower value
