sony vaio - owner ballsed up!

hi - made a total boob at the weekend; restored pc to factory settings (as done numerous times before) but somehow managed to wipe / erase hard drive!

I tried to reinstal my recovery discs and got to 9 % on 1st disc and error came up, would go no further.

further fiddling has now left me with "no operating system" and possibly no recovery discs if error coming up.

any ideas on how to get laptop back in working order? im at work at present so have managed to get on line. My wee boy has a pc at home but not the fastest etc.

my laptop is Sony Vaio VGN NR21J, model number: pcg 7113m.

thanks in advance and if ive posted this wrong please point me in the right direction ... please

from a demented female who thinks she can do I.T.!!!!

Sounds like the Windows bootloader cannot find your operating system:

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Get a Windows CD, boot into the recovery console and run:

      bootrec /fixboot
      bootrec /fixmbr
      bootrec /scanos
      bootrec /rebuildbcd

It's a bit of a shotgun approach to the problem, but one of those commands should fix it.
