Neighbours Wifi, Baby Monitors, Microwave Ovens, DECT home phones, Wireless TV Video Senders, they all cause havoc for wifi signals as they all operate around the same 2.4ghz frequency..

I switched onto 5ghz wifi a while back as the 2.4ghz wifi was shockingly bad, its been sweet ever since, longer range too..

Have you tried looking through the config of your wireless nic ? Like the working mode, the channel used, preamble length. I'm not an expert, but I know those settings gotta match with your access point's settings (especially the channel used must match on both your ap and your nic). To access those options, right click on your nic > "properties" > "configure" in the new window (if you're in Windows).
