Hi ive been trying to fit another harddrive into this Toshiba Satellite L350 Modle No PSLD0E-03q0 men. The reason is that i keep getting the blue screen of death with the old hard drive,ive tried formating it ive scanned and dskchk the disc at the start up but its still the same,the operating system is VISTA,ive tried Windows 7 and XP service pack 3 but i still get the same problem.I have 2 other sata harddrives these are FUJITSU MHY2200BH HARDDRIVE and a SAMSUNG HM250HI i formated them before i tried to reinstal a new op on this laptop,now the laptop says tht there is no harddrives found on it when i try to put a op system on either of the harddrives,ive put them into my sata caddy on my desktop pc,they dont show up as an external drive,or in the local drive ?/if i go into device manager i find the hard drive but it wont let me format it or open it,Can any one help me and point me in the right direction on how to get the sata harddrives to be recognised:

The problem with the BSOD is common if you change some settings in you BIOS (SATA settings). I could explain it to you, but it would be a long text, so try playing with the sata settings in the bios. I'll give you a hint: native sata mode is used for vista and 7 ,for win xp you should use a non-native sata mode. If you use native sata mode with the installation of win xp it will show the no hard disk error.
I hope you'll fix this, but from my experience with toshiba, this can sometimes be more complicated problem.

your right it would be hard to explain to me,but i will try ,how do i enter the bios,is it by selecting one of the F keysComment

Start unit, and when you see tosihiba splash screen hit F2 then navigate to second bios screen using arrows, and on bottom you will see sata mode AHCI and if you hit enter you should have compatibility mode as well if you need to instal windows xp use compatibility mode, if you want install something diff like win 7 you need to set is as a AHCI, save changes and reboot unit.
That should sort out your issue.Comment
