sly + hard drive

Hi guys ive sly + hard drive id like to add to my desktop as slave for a little extra storage any info on how to set it up on pc wit xp home

well red devil, ive done a bot of googling and it seems that it will be possible as its just a bog standard ide drive.

from my research, you just set it as slave and format it, then use disk management in windows. be aware tho, its only 5400 rpm so may seem sluggish if you've got a modern drive

the speed wont be a prob hopefully goin to use it to backup hundreds of dig photos of the kids, was just doin a search and found a guy wit a few probs (see link) gettin pc to recognise it so if i get it sorted ill post all related info, thanks shady

as above t should just plug in. if it's ide (a wide grey ribbon connector) you will need to change the little jumper on the back to slave if it's going on a cable with something already on (another hard drive or cd-rom) but if it gets a cable all to its self then leave it as master

it probably wont need anything more than a format once bolted and plugged in

just to finish this thread it was a seagate HD, popped it in turned on pc and it recognised it and then asked to reboot, i just re-named it and nothing else, didnt even need to format so thanks for ur input guys
