Will it turn on with the charger plugged in?

I take it the battery is not working/charging.

            Is the charge port loose?

Common problem on all laptops & netbooks. A damaged charge port will obviously stop it from working once the battery is flat.

does not appear to be the problem because the battery is charged and the battery is ok

So, does this just fail to do anything or does it fail to post (beep & show the press DEL to enter bios screen)?

                        How old is it?

Has it been used on someones lap, arm of sofa, bed?

The last time it worked, was it screaming it's guts out (fan very noisey)?

                              Have a read here.

I would also repaste the heatsink while you're there.
