    OK, try this.

Open my computer, click on "tools > folder option > view tab". Click on "show hidden files and folders" then ok. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"your user name"\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book.

Double click the .wab file, it will ask if you want address book to be your default Vcard reader, click no. When the address book opens click on "main identity" folder and see of your contacts are still there. If they are, copy the "your user name".wab to the desktop then delete the original. Open Outlook express and click on "file > import > addressbook" and point it to the copy on the desktop.

After it imports, go back and disable "show hidden files and folders"

Given that outlook express is always a problem. Why not try thunderbird our any other third party mail program.

Does one look like .wab~ , if so this is a backup file. I would just get rid of them both, but you can always just move them to another folder to be safe.

most likely something was entered incorrectly on outlook
            connection settings maybe

            download this

            its called Outlook Hotmail Connector

32 bit - Outlook Hotmail Connector - Microsoft Download Center - Confirmation

64 bit- Outlook Hotmail Connector - Microsoft Download Center - Confirmation
(64 bit works with Outlook 2010 only)

            download your version
            install it
Then go into your Outlook at top click on Outlook Connector
            Then click Add Account
            fill in your account details
and it will set it up the rest for you.
