Sony Vaio laptop charger beeping

My Sony vaio charger started beeping and the light ain't on either. It beeps even f not plugged in laptop. Does anyone know how to repair for not till I find a new one I order? Thanks

Does it still charge the laptop? Sounds like something fried and could overheat and eventually melt.

I think a new one is the only fix.
