Leave it. What's the noise? Clicking? If its taking so long the file system really is ~~~~ed. It could be that ~~~~ed that a full low level format maybe required.

the noise is hard to explain,,its like a whirring noise the sort you get when the lappy is booting up
but its not counting up through the file numbers like is was last night
my mate has a copy of all my pics so thats ok,but there is other data on here i need if poss

someone shut the lid on the lappy which in turn shut thelappy down,,its started up again and the check disc box is still open with a flashing cursor in the bottom but its done nothing for the last half hour,,is there anyway i can get check disc to continue ?The control of information is the consolidation of power
