I was at my neighbours house today and he wanted to change his printer. he had an old Canon inkjet that was was connected via USB to his DLINK 323 NAS. The NAS is on his local lan and he would then put in the IP of the NAS in the printer properties on his laptop.
Nothing hard in that i thought, so we unplugged his printer and plugged in the new one, also a Canon inkjet.
I connected my laptop to his network as I have access, i viewed the properties of the NAS (via its IP in a browser etc) and it could see the printer attached to it. so i think its all good.. we just do the same as he had it set up before.. However i first get his install cd and install the printer locally on my laptop, i do a test print and all is ok.... no now i reconnect the printer usb cable to the nas and try to connect... can't do ~~~~ all now.. no printing via this method...
my laptop uses Win7 64bit enterprise
Wtf is going on,,,,,
