    ibm thinkpad fan error

    hi guys, need help with an ibm think pad laptop, wot i wont to do is change the fan settins now ive been into evrey differant setting that i know including ibm settins and i cannot find the settin to change the fan settins, the comp is runnin windows xp pro if that makes any diffarence, just need to know how to change fan settins, any help would be great.cheers.chris....

    Any details about this IBM ? What would you like to change? Fan speed in function of temperature?

    In most cases you can find it in BIOS, but let us know what exactly type of ThinkPad is it.

      hi m8, thanks for reply, its not mine its my sons, this is wot i know about it, its a ibm thinkpad t42 ex american corp lapy bought off the bay its in good working order but the internal fan only comes on when the lapy gets very hot hence the fan error on boot up, so wot i wont to do is change the fan settin to perminent on all the time, been into bios cant seem to find it there, any help m8 would be great.cheers..chris...

            If the fan is faulty it needs to be replaced, if the bearings are bad it wont start untill more voltage is applied by the control circuit (as it warms up) I don't think ther is a fan setting in the bios
