    WGV message ,(A pain in the BUTT)

    hi i recently done a fresh format and used XP unattended to save time from all the polaver of installing programs ect.Well every thing is fine but the other night i decided to let it up grade by itself and now i have the windows validation message coming up ,can any one tell me how to get rid of this,as i dont want to format the hd again,is there a wee programe out the that can be used

    as far as I know the only way to get rid of that message is to activate using a proper licence key. Else you'll have to reformat and choose not to install the WGA update, though you need it to install the latest windows media player now.

          when that happened to me i just did a restore to before my upgrades then when it tryed to install the upgrades tick the advanced option untick the wga notification at the bottom of the list,you should get an extra message then saying "dont notify me of this upgrade again" check that box & it should be ok.make sure if you turn your automatic upgrades off then back on again that you will have to check that box again.also up dating your media player or installin ie 8 will bring you the same problem.
