ok i have xp pro sp3 i have windows live 8.1 and yesterday i got "windows live has a problem and needs to close" wtf so ok i thought i had a virus Trojan etc... so ran deep scan on ad-aware pro, 4 Trojans found = deleted then reboot then ran malware bytes = nothing then superantispyware = a few bits of crap but nothing serious but still cant get windows live as i live in greece its important to stay in touch with my family in the uk and now im buggered i would run hijack this but my computer skills are not that good to read and sort this and i dont want to ~~~~ up everything.... so help please my friends.... waaaaaah!!!!!

I also use spybot S&D and spywareblaster with adaware, the cocktail approach seem to work well. What anitvirus are you running?
The windows live issue could be courrupted now. What you should do is remove it wither bu its uninstaller or by add/remove programs int he control panel. Then after a reboot and a scan of your machine in 'safe mode' which you access by pressing F8 during boot up you can reload the the program in normal windows when you are sure you are clean..
Make sure you have the lastest patches/updates from microsoft as well.
Could be many things, but start with these and the come back and let us know hoe you get on. If you still need help after then we can go deeper...

im using avira antivir atm i was using avg 8.0 but it dosnt seem to be as good as it used to be, ithink the problem started when i used a program called radar sync to update my drivers and i didnt check the sites it was downloading from so i may have been taken to a hijack site, as you say a cocktail may be the answer so im going to try spybot let you know how i get on thanks for your help nigeComment

thanks graham, i have been using awc for a long time and it cant find any problems. as nige suggested i ran spybotsd, then i ran ad-adware se again then superatispyware then malewarebytes then error nuker = no problems so i done a total uninstall using revo uninstaller got shot of every file then clean reinstall of wlm guess what has to close blah ~~~~in blah but error message slightly different wah! wah! im going crazy here and im still not very well so its a cluster fcuk !!!Comment

well i sorted it, and just in case anyone has the same problem, first follow the steps in the previous posts make sure you system is clean, then download revo uninstaller run the program, then remove windows live, remember to select all to delete, then take the option to go back and do a deep scan for leftover files, but the new wln version 8.5 puts lots of crap on so then look at the rest of the windows live programs (3 or four i think) at follow the same procedure and get shot of everything, what i done then was go to softpedia and downloaded version 7.5 but it refused to run unless i downloaded the 8.5 version so i did and low and behold it works, i think the secret is removing all traces of the program and start with a clean sheet hope this is of help to anyone who gets a similar problemComment
