You have probably got a faulty backlight inverter, this is cheaper than an lcd and are known to go on many laptops mate.. The backlight inverter is basically a narrow circuit noad that fits alongside the lcd panel and coverts the current to power the panel.. Some places will PX your busted one.. Loads for sale, see google.

These guys have one for sale, or so their site says, I have used them for many parts over the years and they are good.

the only thing left i guess is the video cable itself these can get pinched and fail around the hinge... you had a try with a new one of those?

i tried 2 of them to but one of them could be faulty the other one has the same connections but it is a different part number could it be that even with the right connections but the wrong part number it may not work although the guy who i bought it off said it was fully working 100%

Look at the connector on the board or worse one of lcd outputs may be fried.

Well I would be chewing my fingers of by now.. Of course the parts you have been testing it with could be knackered.

You have tried all the things I would try. There is a simple thing but I guess you have tried it... Have you been into the Bios to see if there is a function that stop the internal video cos it thinks the machine is on a docking station? Also have you tried pressing Fn F8 a few times to cycle through the internal video/external video (CRT)/dual screen mode?

If this does not work maybe try flashing the bios, if thart does not work, pick a window and chuck the ~~~~er..
