Installed windows 7 on gaming PC and keeps freezing/crashing

    Hi all

I have a gaming PC and I installed the 64bit windows 7 on my PC as an upgrade from XP (I got the PC early this year but put PX on it as I like XP)

anyway I determined I need the 64 bit so I bought it, everything works fine on it so happy however sometimes it just freezes

literally it just freezes and the mouse is stuck, when I press num lock on my keyboard the light doesnt respond and the only thing I can do is reset it manually otherwise it just stays like this

    can anyone help please

you need to re-format the hdd prior to installing win 7 m8. do a google search not sure if external links are allowed.

thanks, what do you think are the chances that this will solve the problem? because if when I installed this it deleted everything on my drive so it should be a clean install,

I dont want to do double work

It may or may not solve your problem but you have nothing to lose. A clean install is always best when changing operating systems especially if your coming from a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system. The transition when upgrading should be seamless but sometimes not.

Another good tip is to partition your drive so that for example you have drive c and drive d then when you install any program you put that on drive d. Then in the event you have to install windows again you dont lose all of your data as you just reformat c and not drive d (not forgetting to save all important data off drive c first).

I run windows7 64bit and 64 bit drivers are a must or issues will arise. Also do you have enough memory 4gb or more helps.

It would really help if you could post your pc specs mate...
Because your upgrading from XP there may be issues with your hardware, 7 uses Vista's drivers and there is often problems when moving from XP.

There is no direct upgrade path from XP so a clean install is the only way to go as other members have stated.
If your not to clued up on how to do a clean install then it may be a good idea to find someone you know who is.
If you don't know anyone i can try and write a short, simple guide for you on how to do it but its essential to see your pc specs first..

To get your specs download this free program and copy and paste the info it displays.
