Win7 Pages not fully completing. HELP!

Pages on a friends laptop are not completing, you get the page framework but only a part of the print and control. Is there a known about virus on the go that might explain the problem?
I have done a factory re-set yesterday and resolved the problem, but she has just rung this morning to say its doing it again.
I example: if you activate AVG the page comes up without any control buttons, or if you try msconfig again the same problem no control button to activate the programs.

Ave only came across this once fella and this fix worked..
How to Fix : Explorer.exe does not Load at Windows Startup

Usually its caused by Explorer exe not starting up properly, this is often virus related.
A found it took more time to fix the problem and clean the virus than it would have to simply back up the files to an external drive and do a clean install..
With a clean install you can give your friend the peace of mind that their pc is virus free and running at its best...

Well had to take it in for repair.

Now I have got the Babylon Search Engine Virus.

Any help getting rid of it known?

Bloody Cnet.

Here is a manual way to delete it mate..

1) Open Windows Task Manager to stop Search.babylon.com process.

2) Go to Windows Control Panel Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Search.babylon.com program.

3) Open Windows Registry using regedit.exe command. Find and Remove all Search.babylon.com Registry Files.

4) Search for Search.babylon.com Files on your computer and delete them.

Did you get it from a Cnet download?

Thanks I had done all that already when it replaced itself as my home page, without success.
I finally set Google chrome back to default settings and it cleared.
I suspect strongly Cnet download

Cnet have a terrible amount of rogue programs in their Freeware section mate.
A always found this to be a good freeware site.

A would download Malwarebytes and do a full scan, if you want the full version of Malwarebytes send me a pm and il sort you out..

stuff like babylon and other toolbars can easliy comeback if traces
are in the registry sometimes the standard windows add remove
will not cover it

I tried to install Malwarebytes but a picture of a zip showed across the screen and Malwarebyted was prevented from installing.
Also during the restore I downloaded on my own computer free AVG from Cnet that unbeknown came with Babylon Search engine that like a virus caused all manner of problems (I will never use Cnet again)
In the end the laptop had to go in for repair as I could do no more for her.
After a full check and scan on the shops server no fault or virus could be detected.
They had to do a Low Level Format and reinstall.
They had never seen anything like it before.
They also stated that Babylon was a pain in the ass, but making paid work for them.

After a quick Google it appears that the Babylon Toolbar is included in many downloads from Cnet.
Cnet are claiming that if you use their trusted downloader package then its not included but if you download the exe file from them then it is.
They also claim that they have no association with Babylon..
You would think that Cnet would be more careful regarding "any" downloads on their site as so many use them..

They also feature a Babylon removal tool but it isn't rated very good.

A took a quick look at their Freeware anti spyware programs and there are a few on the suspect side..
Frankly a wouldn't trust Cnet as far as a could throw them mate..

A further update, forgetting Babylon, which has now been deleted, going back to the original problem
The program pages not completing, preventing the use or operation of selected program.
Last night, windows carried out an auto update after which my computer started showing the same symptoms. I immediately carried out a system restore and the updates were taken out. My computer is ok again.
The updates: KB2687267, KB2686831, KB2686827, KB890830, KB2656373, KB2656368, KB2685939, KB2699988, KB2709162, KB2667402.
The above are the updates; don't know if this info will help anyone else.
