    Dead Motherboard ????

    Is my Mobo dead ????

    2 weeks ago I got BSOD and after that PC wouldn't boot/post.
    Looked around on interweb and thought it was my PSU.
    Got PSU checked from a certified person and was told it had no power from certain wires.
    Just bought a new PSU and PC still doesn't boot.
    Took everything out the case and tried booting with nothing hooked up apart from motherboard.
    Still no boot/post/beeps.
    Power light comes on, fans turn. When I plug everything in the HDD activity light doesn't come on (the drives spin) and reset button doesn't work.
    I have a Core2 Due E8300 processor
    8GB DDR2 (Exceleram)
    2 x 350GB HDDs
    GeForce 9800GT Super+ 1GB graphics card
    Win7 Ultimate
    Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H

    I'm thinking that the motherboard has been fried.
    Do you think a new motherboard would solve this problem or am I throwing good money down the drain??
    any help greatly appreciated

      take out 1.memory module and give it a try.

          took out one.no post
          took out 2. no post
          swapped them round. no post.
          was thinking that my PSU went and blew something on motherboard.
          took mobo out of case and can't see anything up. i.e no blown/bulging caps.

              looking at your mobo,it only supports 4gb,but that could be 2 x 2gb only,and may not support 1 x 4gb,
              you could try reset the bios,and start from scratch.or get a 2gb module and stick it in,its all trial and error really,might be worth downloading motherboard diagram just to be sure.

                  just looked at manual and it say4GB of RAM.
                  I've been running this for about 2-3 years with 8GB.
                  when I went into system it said there was 8GB present?? weird.
                  i've tried changing battery and resetting CMOS...all to no avail.
                  think i'll try this..Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo (?40)
                  that way I can use my existing processor and RAM or even upgrade to DDR3 if need be.
                  just want to make sure the bugger is dead before I part with some cash

                      -remove all components (VGA, CPU, RAM, PSU and another...) and battery CMOS from your mobo
                      -put in short contact from battery CMOS for 5minutes
                      -insert cpu, one module ram, vga, psu...
                      IT`S possible to start your mobo
