I am running a Win Xp sp2 my computer keeps coming on and off I have tried different solutions including formatting and they don seem to be working anybody to help me, also the usb ports cannot detect anything of which they previously did.

Could it be overheating? Been a long time since i used XP but as i recall i had to install usb drivers manually for XP

Could be the power supply, can you get a hold of another to check or use a multi-meter and check voltages.
