password problem, need advice?

hi the problem is , after i boot up the pc, its ask for a password. , when i enter it , and click on enter, the password box goes back to blank and ask me to enter the password again, and then its says (system will halt) press cany key, and when i do , the screen goes black with a little white bar in the top left hand side of the screen , there were no changes made in the pc settings, and it was working fine on the password up to the other day, any advice welcome , thanks , ranger.

My way....

Take the hard drive out, plug it into a caddy & copy over as much of your data as you can.

Then format it & run a fresh install of windows.

hi thanks for your answer, its acer labtop, it dont have a cd/dvd drive in it, so i cant run a copy of xp on it, thanks,

no such thing is ''cant''

get a eternal cd/dvd drive and do it that way
also have a look at hirens boot cd (via google)
