Hi mate
i upgraded to windows 7 pro. Its a newish system i was using the older windows due to preferance.
Output power is 450w
motherboard is gygabyte ga g41mt 3d
1tb hard drive
4gb ram
Asus graphics card
intel pentium processor
totaly puzzledComment

Also check your graphics card isn't the problem. If it has a fan, check if its working or try a different card temporarily.
Try a different hard drive, u may have errors or overheating there...also check connectors.
Reseat your ram or try 1 stick at a time.
Eliminate your suspicions one step at a time.
If all else fails you could have a fault on your motherboard.
Good luck.

I am yes mate, it gets to 80 degrees then freezes to avoid overheating,
but I dont understand why this is happening just now??Comment

At a guess i would say its something to do with the cpu running at 80 degrees......................
I would upgrade your heatsink m8 to something like this check link...............
Cooler master v8 cpu heatsink / fan | eBayI know you believe you understand what you think i said

I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what i meant ! sigpicComment

A know this sounds obvious but make sure the heatsink is flush on the cpu and the right way round mate.
Even if its a ball hair out its still enough to overheat the cpu, you would be suprised at how a tiny offset can create dire performance problems.
At least modern cpu's have good thermal protection, a remember not seating an old Athlon correctly, it survived for 5 seconds before frying itself.

have you any readings from temperature sensors in pc? A pic of inside of case might be useful. Full system specs would also be nice, dont fancy reading through another topic.
download and post the readings from this CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reportingComment
