    virus or genuine

when i started up my laptop tonight as it was going to boot up it came up with something like repair start up (reccomended) to start so with it saying reccomended i clicked to start up that way but then the screen it brought up didnt look right seemed old fashioned or something but the graphics just didnt look right. all the time it looked like it was trying to find a repair or something it had a blue progress bar scanning it also had a cancel option but when i clicked it it said couldnt cancel when running so i unplugged the power and removed the battery,i then put the power back and started up again and i got the option to start windows as normal so thats what i did and i have got straight back online and i'm running microsoft security essentials virus scan and so far it has found nothing and when its finished i'm going to do a malwarebytes scan also, does anyone know if i had/have a virus or the the start up repair option was genuine?

i have just run malwarebytes and that also found nothing so maybe it was a genuine start up fault.

Sounds like a genuine start up repair. Some files may have been corrupted and needed fixing.

This has happened to me before on Windows 7.

happens sometimes when the laptop isnt shutdown properly or battery on the blink, just let it run it can take a while.
