burner not showing up anymore??

anybody got any idea why my dvd burner has disappeared from my lappy .

it was working fine untill today, clone dvd keeps failing, ashampoo keeps failing as does IMG burn but in IMG burn it says no writers detected in the destination tab??

Laptop is a Toshiba L350-170 and internal DVD writer is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD08A.

any info appreciated

can you still see it in the device manager? IF not there check to see if it is visible in the bios...

I would be tempted to upgrade the bios on the lappy anyway mate, could be a bug [cough] I mean feature of the machine/model...
