is it a VGA to VGA connection, both 15pin D-Subs?
or are you trying to muck around with DVI connectors?

Have you set up your vga out? there should be an option if you right click on the desktop and select properties then set the adaptor to clone the image.

on my tower i use a dvi to hdmi only thing is it does not carry sound.

Under the display properties goto resoloution, then advanced, click on graphics adapter, run the wizard and either clone or use as a secondary.

yes its vga - vga, and i went through all the set up options to clone my desk top, the only thing that happens is the "pc" input on the tv's source list lights up so it can be selected, so the tv is detecting the vga been pluged in but still no pic

cant you try a differant connection?
Also reinstal the graphics adapter, i know sometimes mine is a pain and would only clone but idealy you will want it as a secondary screen.
