Hi. You can also try a factory restore option. This will delete everything and re-install windows software etc from new. Some pc's use F1 or F11 keys to go into restore menu, not sure what keys for your pc though. Only do this if you want everything to be deleted.

    Regards

ok on the restart of the computer on the first screen press the pause/break button this will stop the computer from loading so u can see at the bottom of the screen which button u need to press to load into the bios
once in the bios try and locate the first boot priority and select it to cd/dvd rom
look here to see which bios u might have and it will show you how to do the change How to Set BIOS to Boot from CDROM ? www.hiren.info

take off 1 side of the case that the motherboard isn't close too and then you'll be able to get at it with ease with an air compressor and u will need to redo the heatsink paste for sure as its never been done?

if u wonna have a go its really simple Thermal Paste and How To Use It

Hi Steve. To do factory reset you dont need licence keys. Factory resets are in a secure partition so if your computer gets a virus etc you can restore from day one. You need to know what PF key to use, on some PC's it will display it when you boot up and before Windows loads. Ask the shop if he knows what it is or Google it
          Regards.

Hi Steve. A couple of points to note:
            1) Here in London i know of a number of people who were charged between 50-100 pound to do a factory restore when they could have done it themselves for nothing. If the shop wants to charge you i would decline.
            2) You said you can get into the Safe mode menu - this is a good sign as it means you must have used the PF8 key. Can you not use the mouse to select an option in Safe mode and select 'RESTORE TO LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION' option and see what happens.

            Good luck

                Corrupted file system

                Hi,

It sounds like you have a corrupted file system, you have two solution for this:

Solution#1: Move your HDD to anther computer running windows XP, Vista or 7. the system will find out that the file system is corrupted and it will repair it for you.

Solution#2: Boot you computer using windows XP CD, wait until the it asks you to setup windows xp or repair, choose repair by pressing "R" key, select your windows installation "usually 1", press enter for administrator password, type "chkdsk c:", wait until it finish repair process.

                Hope this will help.
