Hitachi drive, locked with ATA password.

Hi, I have an Hitachi 40gb hard drive that is locked with a ATA password. I am not bothered about recovering the information from it I just want to use it again. Is there away of formatting it or something that will allow me to use it again? Thanks.

As far as i know if the pc you plug it into recognises it ,then format it,if that works and you want the data back ,get a data recovery tool ,there seems to be a lot on the net , thats what ive allways done and its worked for me.
    Hope that helps you mate

Hi, Unfortunately the PC doesn't recognise it. I have tried several programs to try and format it but as the ATA is locked it won't allow it to do anything to it? Some of the programs see the disk but can't do anything with it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
