    dell xps M1710

Hi there ive just done up a dell xps M1710 laptop. i had to format it and i put the latest Windows 7 ultimate disc that i had on to it , all was working well then it done a update of 77 files that were needing updated ,again all was well, my friend borrowed it for to use at his disco, he told me he put some programe into it to play his mp3 music through his disco, he said that it came up again asking to down load updates, it was working perfectly fine till he got it, he has said that all he done was put this music programe on it, now there is sweet fa working, well what i mean it did boot up but just sat there with the windows 7 logo burrling around then now when you switch it back on the numbers lock light is on, it is a blanck dark screen,it does give a short flicker but thats it, it wont even let me get into the start menue ,or the bios screen ,mcan any one point me in the right direction with any info how to repair this, ive took the hard drive out and put it in my caddy it works there ok,ive tried conecting it up to an external monitor but that doesnt do any thing as well,it is still a blank screen.

Firstly,if you haven't already, try booting with the power supply plugged in, if that doesn't work try removing the battery, ram & cmos battery from the motherboard for half an hour then put them all back in & try again. The cmos battery should be located under the keyboard so not very difficult to remove. Let us know how you get on.
