    Pink Screen Lock Up

    Hi all.

I have been having a recurring problem of my PC locking up, with a pink tint to the screen. I have to hard reset.
I have tried everything I can think of including:-
swapping GPU's, swapping memory, running at stock, updated all drivers, formatted and re install, different AMD driver/CAP combo's............
System has passed memtest86+ and Prime95 and also tested each HDD.
It only appears to happen in Battlefield 3 but I haven't played any other game long enough to really test.
I'm almost certain it's crossfire related as if I play windowed or disable a card it has yet to happen, although as above, haven't really played long enough to test.
I would appreciate your valuable knowledge. Especially if you have seen this crash first hand.

    Thanks in advance.

    System Spec as follows:-

    Phenom II x6 BE 1090T @ 3.8GHz 1.40V
    Asus Crosshair IV Formula
    8GB GSkill Ripjaw @ 1333 7-7-7 1.60V
HIS Radeon HD6850 IceQX Turbo 1GB CrossfireX
    OCZ Vertex+ SSD
    2x WD Blue SATAIII
    CM GX 650

mite be over heating whens the last time u re-pasted ur heat-sink? use this little program to view ur hardware temps

only try using 1 stick of ram at a time and test that way eliminating that piece of hardware

also try using on-board gfx instead of ur card if u have 1 or vise versa to eliminate that piece of hardware

remove the bios battery for 30 seconds as-well this mite help try this first

Hi pal. Thanks for the reply.

CPU is under a H80 with AS5 and Sickleflow fans. Hits 51'C after 2 hours of prime 95. GPU temps are 83'C afte 30minutes of Kombuster. NB hits 56'C while gaming in warm weather. All are fine I believe.

RAM has been tested with both Memtest86+ and Prime95 blend test.

I don't have onboard GFX. 1 card is fine, no crashes. (so far)

I have reset the CMOS countless times. Problem persists.

It really has me stumped. I can find similar problems with Nvidia drivers but nothing regarding AMD. You'll notice that when it happens, the overscan black border returns to my screen, which further leads me to believe that it's caused by software.

Again, thanks for your effort and all advice is appreciated.

VGA lead or DVI? I'd try another lead also. I would say its a loose connection somewhere or driver/card issue. Check for bug fixes

HDMI connection. I've tried both GPU ports and both of my monitor ports. I haven't tried a different cable though so I'll give that a whirl.

I'm also thinking of switching my SATA from ACHI to IDE. Don't know of any reason it would be causing the problem but it's something I haven't tried.

          Thanks.

Personally, I'd format to rule out software, coudl be a software issue if most hardware is ruled out.

One step ahead of you mate

I have formatted before but I thought I'd try again. I'm now on a fresh install using 12.1 (widely regarded as the best driver for BF3) and CAP 12.7C.

I will keep you informed of any events.

                    Cheers.

Well, it's been 2 evenings now (3 hours each night) and no crash..............yet!

I did get flickering horizontal lines on night 1 which I managed to get rid of by switching to windowed mode, then back to full screen. I think those sort of graphical glitches are common in BF3 with Crossfire though so I'm not to concerned.

Friday night tonigh so a marathon session in order. Fingers crossed.

Over a week and no BF3 crash! Longest time without a crash since crossfiring. Happy days.
