    Right click open as admin
Check if av software see's it as a virus ect

If the file is compressed you will need a program to uncompress it like winrar or winzip

        Calibre won't open

Thanks for the advice, however I am still no better off as I'm not very computer savvy in fact it's a miracle I can download ebooks.I have tried several versions of calibre but to no avail.I downloaded a program recommended by windows to open calibre with but when I try that it just comes up "reg clean"and starts to scan my computer.is there any way to just transfer my old calibre from one laptop to another.regards Paul

          yea
          wheres ya disc??
          or
download the version u have now and use the key from the old version

load up calibre and click the help/about button and this will tell u the current version u r running

if that fails n u cant find ur key there is a backdoor way

u will need to go c/users/YOU/application data and locate calibre and copy/paste the folder into new install on ya other comp
this will make it run like ur other setup

if u cant see application data folder then u will have to go to the folder options and alter the view of hidden files and folders

windows 7 : left hand tab on an open folder Organize/folder options/view/show hidden folders drives & files
