file viewer

hi all,

this might seem a dumb question for some, but i need a good free file viewer.

i have just been using a new clone jaguar/landrover diagnostic tool (vcm jlr v130), and when i was using it it tried to open a file which i could not view because i did not have the correct software to open it. i do not know what type of file it was so i'm looking for something that will open as many files as possible.

i was just looking at freefileviewer but some say its a bit spyware.

any ideas guys what i can use.

when u get a program that wants to open up but u dont have the software look for the solution online when prompted and then it may tell u what software runs the file

What is the file extension? ie: filename.EXT <----
