i use wmp reqularly... well the backend anyway on my media server. essentialy to stream stuff to my xbox360, media center is garbage in comparison due to heavy restrictions with regards to files and DRM.
wmp lets me stream files created with StreaMeNG so i can record from my DBOX and watch stuff later on my 360

for audio you really cant beat foobar2k, it takes a while to get used to but its lighter and entirely faster than any other soloution on the market.
especialy if you stream your mp3's over your network.
i used to be a diehard winamp fan but after you get past 30gb of files on a network it seems to grrind to a halt, foobar can handle my 600gb mp3 cache without incident.

my server essentialy downloads automaticaly (via scripted rss feeds and torrents) and records from my dbox and stores all my media for streaming down to my 360, pcs and laptops.
I get home from work to a whole stack of new stuff to watch.

Winamp is a little good program for home users but if your handling that sort of mp3s then you need some serious kit.
