    Hello mate,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, just to clarify, what flashes on the laptop when you power it up?

It's possible that the solder on the graphics / system chip (MPC67MV-A2) has gone dry causing it not to show anything on the screen.

If that is the case, your data should be safe, if you purchase a SATA 2.5" USB caddy from somewhere then take your hard drive out the laptop and put it into there, you should be able to access the data.

Alternatively, get the system IC reworked properly (please don't use a hot air gun, they cause more damage than good) you'll have a working laptop again.

I do have a rework station and could get it sorted for you if you wanted, I'm not trying to promote myself on here, just trying to help people

    J.

      TRY THIS 1ST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sounds like your stuck on standby bud. u will need to hard reset lappy.
remove charger and battery hold down power button for 30 secs- let go (obv)-insert battery and charger- then turn back on, this is how to hard reset any acer aspire. i have 2 6920g's and a 6935g your data will be safe if you apply this method.

You could put the hard drive into another laptop, it would work if the laptop has the same chipset - it'll blue screen if it's not the same chipset manufacture, part of Microsoft's anti-copy system.

But like Stevieboy says, you've gotta have somewhere to save them to!

If you have a working desktop PC with SATA on board, you could connect the hard drive to that temporarily to save your pictures. Just connect a SATA data and SATA power cable to the hard drive then power the computer up, your drive will appear in 'My Computer'.

Yes mate, the connectors are the same. If you have a SATA DVD drive, you can use those cables.
