reccommended specs for vista ultimate are:-
    • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    • 1 GB of system memory
    • 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
    • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
      • WDDM Driver
      • 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
      • Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
      • 32 bits per pixel

so you should be fine mate.
    • you may need a graphics card tho as integrated graphics are the pits

My gf was running vista on a pent d that shipped with 1gb ram(please).
I upgraded it to 2 and was fone for about 18 months.
It started running poor after a format and stuff so i then upped it to 4gb of ram and ran well.
The motherboard then died so i got a quad core cpu and new board and ots very very fast.

My point is on the lower spec cpus then you need to max out the ram to speed up vista as its just a big bloated fat pig of an os.
