I spoke to someone who new abit about the laptop and they said its most likely the mother board and its a costly thing to replace, the beeps are still there even with new ram in so its deffinatley not the ram plus if it was ram wouldnt the screen at least come on and give a warning message or even at least see the screen back lit up even in black but its like as if the screen is totaly off with no sign of ever being on when the power on the laptop is on and te fan is loud and the beeps are going off

Hi. I had similar problem with DELL INSPIRON 6000 and rather than spend money i just did a complete factory restore and has worked ever since. To do a factory restore on my model i had to press CNTRL and F11 keys after pressing start button. But be warned that if you do a factory restore you will lose all your data as the restore will format your disks.

        Regards

well yes, thats im being so specific about the beeps. if its the same with no ram, chances are its the mainboard.
still fixable, you can get the boards for about 120? online, you just need a good friend or cheap shop to fix it for you.
its all about price to fix Vs price of new laptop..

p.s no sometimes if RAM is got problem it might have symptoms similar to what you get. it all depends, faulty RAM can cause so many differenet types of issue. but the fact its giving same error with no RAM as it is with RAM, your correct the problem probably isnt RAM related

Hi. Thanks for reply. I assumed it may have been similar problem to me. The point i was also trying to make to members is that from what i been told is that most PC's have a special recovery function to restore PC back to factory level. It is always worth a try before spending money. To get into the restore function varies from PC to PC and what version of Windows you are using. I have used this function a number of times to recover PC's for family and friends. The thing to remember is that when you do a factory restore it will re-format your hard drive, so you will lose all your data. The good thing about the restore is that you dont need a licence key or installation CD. In my opinion this function is worth remembering if you have problems with Windows.

            Regards

Hi i know about the built in factory restore process but the laptop does not even go past the first post so its impossible to even allow myself to do a factory reset via the inbuilt process. The issue i have is the laptop not even having a visable screen that shows it being on, so the factory reset is put of the question and that points more to the software this issue is hardware related.

                  Really?
Did you even bother to read my reply to you?
the machine doesnt POST. ( power on self test ), how on earth can he recover it?
and im a preacher to the whole system recovery partition myself, drives me insane to get a pc in when someone has 'recovered' it with a virgin win7 disk, when there was a perfectly good recovery partition that would give them all there software, but thats got absolutly nothing to do with this OP's problem

@OP, are you going to replace board, or invest in a new laptop?

At least you agree with me regarding the factory recovery partition.

                    Take care.
