    help with laptop problem please

g'day all, out matt has knocked his HP lappy off the bed and now it wont work. it switches on and displays an error message saying the cooling fan dont work/has a problem, then shutsdown.
he/i dont want to open it up without checking on here first.

Time to dig out that rusty screwdriver.

Most laptops have removable panels to allow easy access to the hard drive, memory & cooling fan/heatsink.

You need to check if the fan starts up when you turn on the laptop, then check the power connection for it.

Had exact same issue with 1 brought to me a couple weeks back. Had to completely strip it down to get at the fan. And it turned out to be a loose connection.

If you post make and model will see if we cant get the service manual for it, should give a rough idea of where your going to gain access to it

our Matthew has used his noggin for once and done a search on some HP forum. apparently the fan fail is a common fault on his machine and HP are gonna repair free.

          result.

Go to YTube and search for video that shows how to take it apart. Watch the video before you break something.
