External HD Problems On Win 7

    hey guys

Any help at all is greatly appreciated

i have my core by cnm 2tb usb 2.0 external hd hooked up to my win 7 pc, last week i had to completely format the whole drive so i lost at least 1tb full of stuff including videos and pictures. The reason i formatted it was purely because everytime i went onto it the hd and other programs on my pc started becoming unresponsive.

Fast forward to my newly formatted hd and i still more or less have the same problem, everytime i go onto the drive to backup or even just to look at old pics it takes ages to load and still sometimes becomes unresponsive.

So my question is how can i stop this from happening and how can i speed up moving things from my pc to my external hd.

I have ran chkdsk a few times and everything comes back ok.

its may well be the usb chipset in the caddy, it may be the usb cable, it may be the usb port on the pc.

try a deifferent cable, try a different port on pc, try hdd hooked up to sata, try a different hdd caddy
