    serial pci card

    Hi all
    Just orderd a serial pci card for my inspiron.530 to update my satbox. On the back of the computer there is three possible slots, witch is the one i need?? Thanks in advanve.

    seeing as you went for a PCI cad then you need to use a PCI slot.
    not sure how many your 530 has, but you should be able to use any of them as the card and PC will sort out the rest.
    If your not sure which is the PCI slot offer up the card to the available slots to see which is the correct type the card should fit the slot fully, ensure you isolate the power to the PC BEFORE you remove the access panel !!!!!!!.
    If you have a choice of slots to use (more than 1 PCI slot) then as I said above any will do, but some considerations should be taken.
    Ensure it does not clash with the next card (some have heat sinks that stick out a little too far.
    If it is next to another card, then would this make access to the RS232 port a problem.
    Other than that it should be a case of plug and play.
